Common Questions

Can I listen to music while surfing? Swimming?

Yes! Our Bluetooth waterproof headphones have been designed from the ground up with water sports and activities in mind.

You can listen to music while swimming, paddling, wakeboarding, water skiing, jet skiing, and more! Listening to music completely elevates the experience of exercising, exploring, or relaxing in the water.

Can I listen to podcasts while swimming? Surfing?

Absolutely. SoundSwell's smartwatch compatibility enables you to bring all types of audio entertainment in the water. Swimming laps with a podcast, an audiobook, or music is possible through Spotify, Apple Podcasts, Pandora, and Audible.

How do I know the headphones will stay secure? How safe is it for my watch to be connected?

Your SoundSwell will lock into place once you snap the rear clasp into place. Your Apple Watch is fastened with the same secure adapters used in your wristband with one placed on each side of the watch. Ensure the security of your watch by clicking the adapters into place.

SoundSwell headphones are designed with extreme sports in mind! Rest assured they and your smartwatch can withstand the force that come with the elements.

Can I use my SoundSwell headphones with my smartphone?

Of course! SoundSwell is versatile. But keep in mind that Bluetooth has a very short range underwater. If you want to use them with a waterproof smartphone (or with a waterproof case for your smartphone), we recommend placing it in the chest compartment of your wetsuit to keep the Bluetooth connected.

For activities in or near the water where you can have your phone close by — fishing, kayaking, or stand-up paddle boarding — SoundSwell can be used as a more secure, waterproof alternative to traditional Bluetooth earbuds.

Can I use my SoundSwell headphones with my smartwatch on my wrist?

It depends. As long as your watch and headphones are not submerged, the Bluetooth will stay connected.

Many kite surfers and stand up paddle boarders keep their smartwatches on their wrists since they are mostly above the surface.

However, for activities where your watch will become submerged in the water if it's on your wrist, you’ll need to clip the watch into your SoundSwell.

What percentage of recycled ocean plastic are the headphones made from?

The SoundSwell necklace housing is made with 100% ocean-bound collected plastics, these earphones help clean up the oceans you love to spend your time in.

What does exostosis protection mean?

Exostosis, more commonly known as surfer’s ear, is when there’s abnormal growth in the ear canal. Our waterproof headphones protect users from this growth while maintaining a comfortable listening experience.

With the Apple Watch on your chest instead of your wrist, the Bluetooth is able to remain connected at all times.

IP means ‘Ingress Protection,’ and determines how well a device is protected from solids and liquids.

The first digit is representative of protection against solids. The second represents protection against water.
